At P and T Law, I take the time to get to know you and your intellectual property needs. I strategize with you to determine the best course of action that will achieve the intellectual property protection in the form of patents (for inventions) and trademarks (business and brand identity). Copyrights are coming soon!
P and T Law, through founder and principal Tom LaGrandeur, has 24 years of experience in patent law and a decade in trademark law. Tom has successfully procured highly valuable, effective patent and trademark protection for a great number of clients.
I am a registered patent practitioner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Registration No. 51,026 (Feb. 4, 2002).
I've held positions in law firms, corporations, and a technology transfer office.
My academic track record proudly includes my J.D. from the Indiana University Robert McKinney School of Law (2004; 3.68 G.P.A.; Magna Cum Laude (top 5% of my class);
Ph.D., Molecular Biology, Indiana University (1994; 3.86 G.P.A.)
B.S., Chemistry/Biology, Western Washington University (1985)
On a personal note, I'm a pretty regular guy who happens to have been gifted with sharp mind by the Creator. I am a relentless advocate for my clients. I thoroughly enjoy people and treat all of my clients with respect, dignity, and a great sense of humor.
To borrow from the late, great Jimmy Valvano, "There are three things everyone should do everyday. Number one is laugh. Number two is think - spend some time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think, and cry, that's a heck of a day."
My interests away from Patent and Trademark Law include golf, bicycling, cooking, and movies. My top five movie faves include, in no particular order: Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, 13 Going on 30, and To Kill A Mockingbird (the book is way better, but Gregory Peck is the ultimate Atticus Finch). Of course, Mr. Scorsese has several films that land in my top 30.
